SextantInspired by the beauty and the authenticity of nature, and always being thirsty to discover each corner of the world, to come into contact with different cultures, Thanasis has experienced a lifetime of exploring all of Greece, as well as various parts of Europe, America and Canada. With his photographic camera he has captured innumerable pictures - depictions of everyday routine, nature and natural destruction, capital cities as well as small villages. He has processed many of them digitally, having finally created a photo gallery rich in content.

Gerardus Mercator (5 March 1512 – 2 December 1594) was a Flemish cartographer. He was born in Rupelmonde in the County of Flanders. He is remembered for the Mercator projection world map named after him.At this time he has begun his next voyage, which will begin in July from Vancouver Canada, and will be undertaken in its entirety by sailing ship. The ship's team will consist of three members and the course that will be followed will be from Vancouver, to south of Peru, stopping along the way in all the countries of Latin America in order for the team to participate in meetings with local institutions, dignitaries and cultural events for the purpose of promoting the Hellenic spirit, on behalf of the non-profit, non-government humanitarian organisation "Amfiktionia". They will then continue on to enter via the Panama Channel sailing into the Caribbean waters, and after spending a prolonged stopover, they will arrive in Florida with a view to crossing the Atlantic Ocean with a layover in the Azores, in order to finally enter the waters of the Mediterranean, where they will visit the coastal countries until their final destination of Greece.

Their mission therefore is twofold. Their personal bet that they will accomplish the end of this voyage, as well as contributing towards the mission of Amfiktionia whose aim it is to provide material and educational aid to all the populations of the world, thus giving their travels an educational as well as an intellectual character.

With respect and love for the environment, Thanasis will try to project his ecological conscience towards the organisation of this trip. Since he will also help in governing the ship, he aims to exploit the wind to its utmost, and to shape the timetable in such a way that it will eliminate the need for engines in order for the voyage to be realised in its entirety by sail. All expendable materials that will be used by the crew during this extended stay in the sailing ship will be ecologically friendly (such as soap, shampoo, packing materials, recycled paper, etc).
